Stitching Features
Wow! What a real winner this one is. This machine is very intuitive – easy to set up and figure out, and with 100 Built-In Stitches that’s a large selection for all types of sewing: fashion, quilting, heirloom, crafts, home and decorative sewing.
Utility Stitches:
This set of stitches gives you a lot of options to choose from for your sewing projects. For instance, there are the usual utility stitches for basic sewing and mending such as:
The Straight Stitch (00) is the most frequently used stitch for all types of utility sewing.
The Satin Stitches are the closely spaced stitches used for appliqué, bar-tacks (A bartack stitch is basically a tight zigzag that is repeated back and forth over itself to reinforce a piece that is sewn together, such as in the pocket and belt areas of blue jeans), buttonholes, decorative stitches etc.
The Blindhem Stitch (4) (7) is used mainly for sewing nearly invisible hems on curtains, trousers, skirts, etc.
The Multi-Stitch Zigzag (6) is a strong stitch that makes three short stitches where the normal zig-zag makes only one. Because of this it is usually recommended for overcasting all types of fabrics. It’s also great for bartacks, mending tears, patching, and attaching flat elastic.
The Straight Stitch with Auto Tie-Off Function (89) allows you to sew 4 stitches in forward and then 4 stitches in reverse for reinforcing stitches.
There are Stretch and Decorative Stitches:
Straight Stretch Stitch (01) is much stronger than an ordinary straight stitch because it locks three times – forwards, backwards and forwards and is most often used for reinforcing the seams in sportswear.
There are also decorative stitches for top-stitching and stitching borders, edge-joining, attaching laces and trims, overcasting.
There are stitches for quilting, heirloom, smocking.
And lets not forget about the Automatic Buttonhole Maker (94-99). With the included buttonhole foot attachment you can make perfectly-sized and precisely-balanced buttonholes automatically. The system measures the size of the button and calculates the size of the buttonhole required then stitches it out – this is all done in one easy step. Each side is sewn in the same direction creating beautifully balanced buttonholes, and you can choose from 6 different styles of buttonholes with a keyhole or a round end. There is even a stitch to sew on the button (90)!
… and the list goes on…That’s enough stitches to keep you busy for a while!
LCD Control Panel
The LCD Control Panel features electronic push-button stitch selection – Select the desired stitch with just a simple push of a button. The optimum settings for length, width and tension are set automatically so you can just begin stitching.
Stitch Pattern Number Selection Buttons
When the machine is turned on, the straight stitch is selected and a pop-up screen for individual preference settings appears on the LCD display. To select stitch patterns, use left button for pattern number selection to select left digit and right button to select right digit referring to pattern number reference guide. Both left and right digits scroll up to 9.
Stitch Length and Width / Stitch Position Adjustment Buttons
Operation Buttons
Stop/Start Button
When sewing without using the foot peddle, the machine starts slowly when the start/stop button is pushed and continues sewing at the chosen speed until you press the button again. When it is pushed again, the needle moves and stops at its highest position. (When using the foot control, press it with your foot until you reach a comfortable sewing speed. Of course, the harder you push, the faster the machine will sew).
Programmable Needle Up/Down Button
The Programmable Needle Up/Down Button determines whether the needle is up or down when the machine stops sewing. It is beneficial to have the needle stop in the down position when appliquéing, quilting or pivoting fabric. When removing the fabric from the machine, it is easier if the needle is set to stop in its highest position. Push the switch and LED lamp will be lit red and needle will stop at down position whenever you stop sewing. Push it again to stop needle at up position. NOTE: When foot control is connected, start/stop button cannot be used……..
Sewing Speed Control
You can control the sewing speed by using the Sewing Speed Control. The sewing speed control is moved back and forth horizontally so you can choose a comfortable speed. However, the maximum speed may be limited depending on the selected stitch pattern. When using the foot control, if the sewing speed control is set on a lower speed, then that speed is the fastest that the machine will sew, even if the foot control is fully depressed. That’s good to know if you are a beginner.
Additional Features
Automatic Needle Threader is for effortlessly threading the machine. What a great feature if you’re having a hard time seeing that little eye in the needle!
Top Loading Jam-Proof Bobbin System with Clear Cover ensures smooth, quiet, thread jam-resistant sewing. There’s nothing more frustrating than dealing with constant jamming problems – a real sewing project killer! The bobbin loads from the top, so it is easy to insert and the clear cover makes it easy to monitor the bobbin thread supply.
Or 6-Second Threading allows you to thread the machine in 6 seconds! Just follow the arrows on the machine…and you are threaded in a snap.
Stay-bright™ LED Lifetime White Lamp brightens the whole sewing surface and the long-lasting bulb (100,000 hours) stays cool, regardless of how long you’ve been sewing.
6-Segment Feeding System is a specially designed feed dog that ensures the fabric is picked up and supported from the front of the presser foot to the back. This makes for much more accurate feeding when lining up and matching are of the utmost importance.
Center Zigzag Taper is for tapering the zigzag stitch to the center, not the left or right. This provides a cleaner look when tapering into or out of a point.
Twin Needle Capability creates two parallel rows of stitching for an additional decorative touch. Selected stitches can be adjusted for twin needle sewing by reducing the stitch width.
13 Needle Positions gives you the option to change the position of the needle (left, right, center) for individual projects, such as inserting zippers or cording and top stitching. This is just another example of the flexibility to what you can do with your sewing projects.
Extra-High Presser Foot Lifter provides 2 heights to the presser foot lifter. The second height offers more clearance, which is needed when placing multiple layers or bulky fabric under the presser foot.
Adjustable Stitch Length and Width set the optimal settings for length and width and are automatically adjusted when choosing a stitch. They can be overridden to personalize length and width choice.
Auto Tie-Off Function for Straight Stitch allows you to Tie-off straight stitches with just a push of a button. This helps to reinforce the beginning and end of seams to prevent unraveling.
Tacking Stitch with Auto Tie-Off Function for Decorative Stitches allows you to Tie-off decorative stitches at the beginning and end of a stitch sequence, with just a push of a button.
Use the Audible Tone to confirm that your stitch pattern and function have been selection.
And with a maximum sewing speed of 750 stitches-per-minute, your projects can be sewn quickly.

For me, the best features are the fact that you have the option to sew with out the use of a foot peddle. The sew speed can be adjusted. The seam allowance measurements are right on the plate, unlike the mechanical machine I had before. It is also very quiet compared to the other one, and much easier to operate. I ordered this sewing machine for my granddaughter who is making designer hats and pillows etc. and she loves it! She has made several items and had to read the manual to start. She said it was so easy to learn because the manual is easy to use and very helpful. This machine is not a beginners machine but a beginner can…(Read more)
DISLIKES:
The only set back I have so far is the foot press control. It’s not as responsive/sensitive … I will have to get used to it…Would be nice if it came with a solid cover instead of a plastic one.
